The Relationship Between Entrepreneurship and the Social Sciences

entrepreneurship and social sciences

A variety of disciplines contribute to the study of entrepreneurship including economics (incentives and markets) and management (opportunity process), sociology (influence and norms), psychology (motivation and biases) as well as the study of anthropology (history and culture) and law. The wide array of disciplines proves that entrepreneurship is an event and a practice.

The idea of entrepreneurship has a hazy nature and this confusion can be evident in the definitions that scholars have offered. Many have embraced Schumpeterian entrepreneurial theories that are dynamic which describe it as a person’s ability to identify opportunities to create new companies. Others have emphasized the value of entrepreneurial activities within larger groups or communities. Some have narrowed the definition to small-business owners and self-employed individuals who operate their own businesses.

Whatever definition you pick It is generally accepted that entrepreneurship is vital to wellbeing and economic development because it is associated with productivity and job creation. It is also a major contributor to economic growth. Moreover social entrepreneurs are significant people in society because they provide solutions to social problems.

There is growing interest in incorporating this concept into entrepreneurship education. Researchers have begun to study it. There is a lack of empirical research on social entrepreneurialism and higher education, and it is crucial to know what students learn from these types of courses. This article addresses this issue through an investigation of students’ experience in a Social Enterprise course at an University in Pakistan.
